Welcome to AI For Everyone

Welcome to AI For Everyone · narrated video

You have probably been sold two versions of the future. In one, AI quietly takes your job. In the other, you sit at the centre of a system, commanding a team of digital workers like Tony Stark leading the Avengers. Both miss the more useful story.

In the Chinese classic Journey to the West, Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, does not hire a team. He becomes capable: he learns the skills, masters his tools, and grows the judgement to use them well. That is the map I want to hand you, and it is the spine of this course.

What you will be able to do

By the end of this lesson you will know how AI For Everyone works: the three parts, the ladder from where you stand to AI Ready, and the guardrails that keep AI useful. You will also have bookmarked your AI Field Guide, your one place to learn any specific tool. This lesson is pure setup, so the rest of the course runs smoothly.

The Monkey King's road is your readiness map

Start where Wukong started. He feared being left behind. He travelled the world to find a master, then spent years on unglamorous, foundational work before he was taught a single technique. Only then was he taught the skills: the seventy-two transformations, the cloud that crossed great distances in one leap, the staff that resized itself to fit the task. He did not hire a cloud to carry him, or bring in a shapeshifting consultant. He acquired the capabilities himself, and they became part of who he was.

But capability came fast, and judgement did not. Wukong had power and very little wisdom. He wreaked havoc in Heaven and spent five hundred years under a mountain. That is the AI trap today: a tool can shine in a demo and still be unreliable in real work. The capability is quick to acquire. Knowing when to trust it takes longer.

So how does judgement get built? Wukong is freed for a purpose and given a golden headband that tightens whenever he misuses his power. That headband is guardrails: clear limits and the discipline of checking the work. The wisdom itself came slowly, over the long road West, one real task after another. You build judgement the same way: do the work, check the output, and learn where AI helps and where it does not.

By the end, the headband simply falls away. The rules have become instinct.

How AI For Everyone works

The course page lists all thirty-five lessons in their three parts. Here I will add only what that page does not tell you.

AI For Everyone is built around the fifteen dimensions of readiness that pAIRI, the Personal AI Readiness Index, measures. You can take pAIRI before the course, after it, or not at all; the lessons work either way.

The course trains you to one clear target: AI Ready, capable and confident, using AI on real work with good judgement. That is the Monkey King returning from the road West. Beyond it lie two further stages, AI Competent and AI Catalyst. They are practice paths you grow into over time, with separate guides when you are ready. AI For Everyone gets you AI Ready; the guides are how you keep growing.

Two things make the course yours: the examples come from ordinary working life in Singapore, and the work you do across Part 3 is your own real work, kept in your own capture record, with your AIRI Mentor alongside as a coach.

This course teaches what to do with AI and why. It does not teach which button to press, because the buttons move every few months. So keep these lists close: the five best courses for working professionals, the five best for developers, and AI Singapore's own programmes. The lists are ranked and link-checked monthly, and only official provider material makes them.

Your AIRI Mentor: you will build it in Part 3

One of your first tasks in Part 3 is to build your own AIRI Mentor: a coaching agent inside whichever tool you prefer (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot), loaded with the AIRI Framework and this course's map. From then on it coaches you through the hands-on tasks and helps you capture each one. Building it is the course's biggest worked example of giving an AI clear instructions and the right context, so it waits for Part 3, where that is the skill you are learning.

For now, bookmark your AI Field Guide above. You will meet your Mentor in Part 3.

Acquire skills, build judgement

So here is the map I want you to carry into your own work.

With your AI Field Guide bookmarked, you are ready to begin Part 1.
